MidCanada Entertainment is the production arm of Manitoba's largest and most comprehensive independent production facility, MidCanada Production Services Inc., (est.1977) specializing in all genres of film, television and new media production. The company is fast emerging as a respected producer of high-end documentary projects, event, lifestyle, information and children's programming.
Currently in production is the company's largest production to date... in more ways than one! "Dinosaur Resurrection" (Discovery Channel Canada, Discovery US, Arte France/Germany) reveals the secrets of the world's most fully intact dinosaur mummy, Leonardo. The 77 million year old "Leo" will undergo ground breaking non-destructive testing, including a massive CT scan, to create the world's first anatomically correct dinosaur. The company's most notable productions include " As Seen On TV: The K-Tel Story " (CTV); Gemini Nominated "The True Intrepid: Sir William Stephenson Declassified" (Global Television) and "Avrocar: Saucer Secrets from the Past" (Discovery Channel). Music specials include "The War Child Concert" featuring The Tragically Hip, Chantal Kreviazuk and 70,000 screaming fans. Notable series include "Jazzland with Ross Porter" (Cool TV/Global) and "Panamania: Countdown to the Games" (CBC).
The company recently launched an new division in Hamilton, Ontario, expanding it's operations to Canada's broadcast hub. Heading up the Ontario operation is producer, director and on-air host Kevin Dunn who has been with the company since 1996. Kevin sits on the board of the Canadian Independent Film and Video Fund and served on the Executive of the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association for over five years. Wayne Sheldon, owner and President of MidCanada Production Services Inc. is Executive Producer on all MidCanada Entertainment productions and is based at the company's head office in Winnipeg.
